Photonic Crystal Elements
Example Functionality
If a polarizer array is illuminated with ordinary light (natural polarization), linearly polarized light corresponding
to the azimuth of the transmission axis of each cell of the array is output (see lower left diagram).
If such a polarizer array is projected, the pattern corresponding to that of the polarizer
array is projected. Though nothing of remark is visible to the naked eye, the projected pattern can be viewed by
holding a polarizer infront of the eye and adjusting it appropriately. This is very popular at exhibitions and other events.
If a quarter wave-plate array is illuminated by circularly polarized light, linearly polarized corresponding to the azimuth of the transmission axis of each cell of the array is output (see upper right diagram).
Photonic Lattice can design and fabricate Photonic Crystal Elements with various functionality and patterns from
single domain to compound domain composition.
